毎月末に、中学生を除くすべての保護者の皆様へクラスレポートをお送りしています。

これらのレポートの目的は、今月お子様がレッスンでどのような内容を学んだのかを保護者の方にお伝えすることです。レポートはクラスごとに分けられており、曜日が違っても同じクラスであれば共通する内容が多いため、このような形式にしています。

レポートは、おおしろキッズ英語教室での英語学習において僕が特に重要だと考えている、以下の3つの項目に分かれています。

1. 今月クラスで「練習した英語」
2. 今月クラスで「使った英語」
3. 今月伸ばしたスキル

今後の3回のブログでは、それぞれの項目について詳しくご説明していきます。

まず今回は、「練習した英語」についてです。

外国語の学習では、新しい単語や表現に触れ、それらを繰り返し練習することが欠かせません。多くの場合、その内容はテキストに基づいていますが、レッスン中の実際の場面で必要になる英語も取り入れています。

ここでいう「練習した英語」とは、主に先生やアプリの音声の後に続いて繰り返す英語のことを指します。新しい単語や表現を練習することで、英語に対する慣れが育まれますが、僕が最も大切だと考えているのは、「なぜ英語を学ぶのか」を生徒に思い出させることです。それは、英語を実際に「使えるようになる」ためです。

[Monthly Reports ①]

At the end of each month, I send class reports to all parents, except those of junior high school students.

The purpose of these reports is to keep parents informed about what their children have learned in class during the month. The reports are organized by class name, as much of the lesson content is shared within each class, regardless of the day of the week.

Each report is divided into three sections, focusing on what I believe are the most important aspects of students’ English learning at Oshiro Kids:

1. What English was practiced in class this month
2. What English was used in class this month
3. What skills were developed this month

In the next three blog entries, I will explain each of these sections in more detail.

This first section focuses on what English our students practiced.

Learning a foreign language involves being introduced to new words and expressions, and practicing them regularly. Much of this content comes from students’ textbooks, but we also include English that students need in real classroom situations.

“Practiced” English usually refers to language that students repeat after the teacher or audio from the app. While practicing new words and expressions helps students become more familiar with the language, I believe the most important purpose of practice is to remind students why they are learning English in the first place: to be able to use it.
